A compact luxury SUV spends most of its life dealing with ordinary things: the school run, a tight parking ramp, a long airport pickup and a wet road after work. Audi’s new Q3 arrives in India with that daily brief in mind, then adds a set of details intended to make the familiar journey feel a little more considered.
Audi India launched the third-generation Q3 on 16 October. Prices start at ₹51.99 lakh ex-showroom for the Nova, while the Zenith is listed at ₹55.99 lakh. The car is assembled at the Škoda Auto Volkswagen India plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, and deliveries have begun.

A sharper face, with more to it than the lighting
The new exterior makes the Q3 look more planted. Its large single-frame grille sits between split-style lamps, with the daytime-running lights high on the nose and the main Matrix LED units lower in the bumper. Audi says the lighting can project selected driver-assistance information into the driver’s field of view. The claim gives the design a practical purpose as well as a visual signature.
Eighteen-inch alloy wheels are standard. At the rear, split LED lamps meet a narrow light strip and illuminated Audi rings. The shape remains recognisably Q3, though the new proportions and detailing give the car a more deliberate stance. It still has to fit into a city garage before it has to look dramatic outside one.

The cabin puts the screens within a single glance
Inside, the driver sees an 11.9-inch digital instrument display and a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen arranged in a curved panel. A four-spoke steering wheel and a gear selector on the steering column help clear space on the centre console. Audi has added three-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a coloured head-up display, powered and heated front seats, a powered tailgate and a 12-speaker Sonos system.
The package is broad, though buyers should read the equipment list by trim before comparing headline prices. The Q3 also has nine airbags and an advanced driver-assistance suite. Autocar India’s launch report notes that the car uses a rear parking camera, with no 360-degree surround-view system listed.

Quattro remains central to the Q3’s character
Power comes from a 2.0-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine producing 204hp and 320Nm. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic sends drive to all four wheels through quattro. Audi quotes a 0 to 100kph time of 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 229kph.
That all-wheel-drive system gives the Q3 a distinct place among its compact luxury rivals. It can help put power down cleanly when the surface turns slippery, and it gives the driver another layer of confidence on a fast, uneven road. It will not turn the Q3 into an off-roader. The useful point is that Audi has kept traction as part of the car’s identity while bringing its cabin and software forward.

A local build and a familiar badge with a larger job
Local assembly matters because it keeps the Q3 connected to India’s increasingly competitive premium-SUV market. The entry price is now above the figure attached to the previous generation, so buyers will weigh the new cabin, standard equipment and all-wheel-drive hardware against the total on-road cost. The Nova and Zenith trims give them a clear first choice, followed by the usual questions about service, insurance and the options that make sense for their use.
The Q3 has been one of Audi’s more approachable ways into the brand. This generation gives it a stronger technical case and a more expressive cabin, while keeping the proportions manageable for everyday Indian roads. For an owner who wants a polished city car with genuine four-wheel-drive hardware for the weekend, that combination is the story.
The Q3 has a precise role in the showroom: make a compact SUV feel properly premium every day, with quattro contributing to the drive. The first deliveries will tell us how well the promise travels from the specification sheet to the road.
