The INRC Heads for Kodagu as Robusta Rally Returns

The Blueband Sports FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship is due in Kodagu from 20 to 22 November for Round 3, the Robusta Rally. The calendar gives the season a fresh setting after the gravel roads of Coimbatore, with teams now waiting on the event bulletin for the detail that turns a date into a route.

The next date in the Indian National Rally Championship belongs to Kodagu. Blueband Sports has listed the Robusta Rally for 20 to 22 November as Round 3 of the 2026 season, taking the field into the Western Ghats after the Rally of Coimbatore. It is a date for crews to circle and a reminder that the INRC calendar is built around roads, not grandstands.

The name carries a regional character before a car has even left the service park. Kodagu is coffee country, and the event takes the Robusta name into the championship title. The public calendar confirms the event, its place in the season and its dates. Detailed stage information belongs to the final supplementary regulations, which teams will use to turn a broad destination into notes, tyre choices and a plan for every service window.

A rally asks different questions of a crew

The last INRC event in Coimbatore was decided over special stages, where the road itself changed from one section to the next. The driver has to trust a set of pace notes written at a different speed and in a different direction from the competition run. The navigator has to deliver those instructions without adding noise. The team then has to make a car that can take repeated impacts and still feel familiar at the next time control.

The result from the previous round gave the championship a clear reference. Dean Mascarenhas and Gagan Karumbaiah took the overall victory in their Volkswagen Polo, with Karna Kadur and Musa Sherif second. The field behind them carried its own stories across the classes, from the INRC 2 battle to the Junior and Women’s categories. A new round resets the immediate questions while the season standings continue to travel with every crew.

The Kodagu round gives the season a regional return as well as a sporting one. The name Robusta points towards the coffee that has long shaped the district’s working landscape, while the rally places a national championship into roads and communities that already know the sound of competition. For local spectators, the event has a familiar identity. For crews travelling from elsewhere, it is another chance to learn how the surface changes from one stage to the next.

The calendar has a home for every kind of Indian racing

The Robusta Rally belongs to INRC and to rallying. The circuit championship at Kari is another story, filed under 4W Racing, where cars race on a permanent circuit. Keeping those categories distinct helps a reader move from one discipline to the other without losing the character of either. A rally road is read and remembered. A circuit is learned through braking points, lines and the traffic of a close field.

For now, the useful preparation begins with the date and destination. The final route will bring its own questions, including surface, stage length and the rhythm of the service schedule. Those details matter because every team arrives with the same broad task and a different car, crew and way of solving it. Kodagu will give the championship another set of roads to interpret. The first step is knowing when the clock starts.

The current calendar places the rally from Friday 20 November through Sunday 22 November. The event bulletin will settle the route, entry list and service information. Those details are still important because they determine what teams can responsibly prepare. At this stage, the confirmed shape of the weekend is enough to see the season turning west, towards a rally that carries both a championship round and a return to familiar ground for the Kodagu rally community.

For the wider INRC picture, the Kodagu date is a useful point in the season rather than an isolated weekend. The championship will go on to the K1000 Rally in Bengaluru in December, then Indore and Bastar in the new year. Every round asks for a different relationship between car, crew and terrain. Robusta will be the next test of that adaptability, and its results will decide what momentum reaches the last three events.
