Mahindra’s BE 6 SPORTEQ is less interested in looking like a quiet electric appliance. It gives an EV the chance to feel fast, theatrical and digitally alive every time you get in.

Launched on 15 August 2026, the SPORTEQ brings a three-screen coast-to-coast cockpit, Google Gemini-powered TEQ_Talk, six themed TEQ Suites and software-led features including karaoke, gaming and Dolby sound. Mahindra has also retained the BE 6’s performance character with Drift Mode and an Acceleration Boost function.

The software is the new trim level

The interesting part lies in the way the cabin becomes configurable. Different TEQ Suites can change the mood of the car, while the digital key and connected features make ownership feel closer to a device ecosystem than a traditional car purchase.

The battery-as-a-service option lowers the entry price to ₹11.45 lakh plus a usage charge, while the outright price starts at ₹19.45 lakh. Deliveries are scheduled to begin on 26 August, giving the SPORTEQ a quick route from launch story to roads.

An EV designed to be lived in

The BE 6 SPORTEQ treats the cabin as part of the performance. Its screens, sound system and themed suites are designed to make the moment of getting into the car feel distinct, whether the journey is a short city run or a longer drive with friends. The technology gives the vehicle a mood as well as a set of functions.

That ambition brings a useful question. Digital features need to feel inviting after the first demonstration, which means the menus must be clear and the controls must remain easy to reach. Karaoke, gaming and Dolby sound create theatre, while the everyday value lies in how naturally the driver can move between entertainment, navigation and the road ahead.

The performance features keep the SPORTEQ connected to the BE 6’s energetic character. Drift Mode and Acceleration Boost speak to drivers who want their electric car to feel playful, and the instant response of an EV gives those modes a distinct quality. The battery as a service option also changes the financial conversation by lowering the initial entry price.

Deliveries bring the story back to the road. Owners will decide how much of the digital theatre becomes part of their routine, and whether the SPORTEQ’s strongest quality is its showmanship, its pace or the ease with which it makes electric motoring feel personal.

The SPORTEQ also reflects how quickly the idea of a car cabin is changing. A vehicle can now carry the atmosphere of a living room, a cinema and a gaming space, while still needing to be a clear and calm place for the driver. Mahindra is testing how far those roles can sit together.

The early owners will decide which features earn a permanent place in the daily routine. The strongest technology will be the part that feels natural after a month, whether that means a voice command, a favourite suite or the simple pleasure of quiet electric acceleration.

A car that wants to make arrival feel different

The SPORTEQ understands that the first few seconds inside a car can shape the whole journey. Screens wake up, the sound system creates an atmosphere and the themed cabin invites the occupants to choose how the drive should feel. That is a strong idea for an electric car, where quietness leaves room for the interior to speak.

The challenge is maintaining balance. The driver still needs a calm view of the road, simple access to the important controls and enough privacy for the technology to feel helpful. Mahindra’s most successful decisions will be the ones that make all this feel natural and calm.
