Maruti Suzuki has given the Baleno a substantial 2026 update, with prices beginning at ₹6.10 lakh ex-showroom. The familiar premium hatchback now carries Level 2 driver assistance, ventilated front seats and a new 1.2 litre three-cylinder petrol engine, bringing its everyday brief into a more demanding part of the Indian market.
The official NEXA product page confirms the new hardware and cabin equipment, while the launch report published on 5 September establishes the opening price and arrival in showrooms. Bookings are open online and through dealers. The result is a Baleno that keeps the size and basic cabin philosophy buyers know, then concentrates its changes in areas that can be felt during an ordinary commute.

The design work begins at the nose
The larger grille is the clearest visual change. Chrome finished elements widen the front, the Suzuki badge sits above the main opening and the bumper has been reshaped around the new arrangement. The radar for the driver assistance system is integrated into the grille, so the styling change also has a practical engineering purpose.
LED projector lamps retain the three block daytime running light signature. The low roofline, swept windscreen and rising side detail also remain, allowing the facelift to look current without losing the proportions that made the Baleno easy to recognise. A shark fin antenna and fender garnish add smaller changes around the body.

A new engine changes the everyday calculation
The petrol Baleno now uses a 1.2 litre Z12E three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine. Maruti offers it with a five speed manual gearbox or a five speed automated manual transmission. The CNG version continues with a five speed manual. This is a powertrain built around urban use, running cost and broad service support, which remains central to the way most Baleno buyers will judge the car.
A three-cylinder engine has a different sound and pulse from the outgoing four-cylinder unit. Buyers will need a proper road test to decide how that character feels in traffic and at highway speed. The useful launch point is that the engine arrives with a familiar choice of manual and two pedal petrol versions, while CNG remains available for high mileage users.

Level 2 assistance enters a mainstream hatchback
The Level 2 ADAS package is the headline safety addition. Maruti lists adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking and high beam assist. These systems can reduce workload when road markings, traffic and visibility allow them to operate correctly. The driver remains responsible for the car, and the quality of calibration will matter as much as the number of functions on the brochure.
Six airbags are fitted across the range. Electronic stability control with hill hold assistance, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360 degree camera, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and ISOFIX child seat mounts build a broader safety package around the driver assistance technology.

Comfort additions are aimed at Indian use
Ventilated front seats can be a more persuasive daily feature than a decorative flourish. They address long journeys, humid weather and cars that have spent an afternoon in the sun. The cooled wireless charging dock follows the same practical line by managing the heat generated while a compatible phone charges.

The nine inch SmartPlay Pro+ display supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A head up display, automatic climate control, connected car services, keyless entry and a 360 degree camera complete a cabin that remains straightforward in layout while gaining more assistance around the driver.

The Baleno has long worked because it makes a premium hatchback easy to live with. This update asks the same car to carry more technology without becoming difficult to understand. The opening price remains important, though the full value judgement will depend on variant prices, the availability of the ADAS package and how the new engine behaves on the road.
