There is a particular confidence to a well-proportioned sedan. It does not need to announce every line with a flourish, the roof can fall gently into the boot, the lamps can catch the eye at dusk, and the cabin can make the long route home feel shorter. The new Škoda Slavia has now been given its price, and with it a clearer invitation to buyers: choose the kind of engine and equipment that suits your life, then take delivery from next week.

Škoda Auto India announced the new Slavia’s prices on 6 October, opening at ₹9,99,900 ex-showroom and reaching ₹18,84,000. The sedan was unveiled in August, but this latest update turns the design story into a showroom decision. Six trims will be available from launch, with a wider transmission choice for the 1.0 TSI and a richer equipment list running through the upper grades.

A familiar silhouette, sharpened around the edges

The Slavia keeps the long, elegant profile that has given it a place in the Indian sedan conversation. The new model brings revised LED headlamps and tail lamps, sequential rear indicators, new alloy designs and a horizontal chrome detail across the grille. The changes are most visible when the car is standing still, though they also give the front and rear a cleaner signature after dark.

There is a useful distinction between a design refresh and a change of character. The Slavia remains a car that makes its case through space, road presence and a more composed alternative to the tall shapes dominating the market. Sportline and Monte Carlo introduce their own darker, more assertive details, the Monte Carlo’s red accents and black exterior pieces let the same body take on a different mood without disguising the car underneath.

The gearbox is the headline beneath the bonnet

The 1.0 TSI engine can be paired with a six-speed manual or a new eight-speed torque-converter automatic. Škoda describes the latter as a first-in-segment choice, giving buyers a conventional automatic option alongside the manual without requiring them to move to the larger engine. Customers seeking the 1.5 TSI receive a seven-speed DSG automatic. The 1.5-litre version also brings rear disc brakes.

That spread gives the range a welcome shape. The manual remains the clear choice for drivers who want direct control and a lower entry point. The eight-speed automatic opens the 1.0 TSI to people who spend more time in traffic or simply prefer to let the car manage the changes. The 1.5 TSI and DSG occupy a different part of the range, with a stronger performance brief and a more premium equipment list.

The cabin tries to make comfort feel generous

A rear-seat massage function is the most unexpected comfort addition, bringing a feature more often associated with larger, more expensive vehicles into this premium sedan class. The Prestige grade adds electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, a 360-degree Area View camera and a larger 26.03-centimetre digital cockpit. Sportline also receives the 360-degree camera, while higher equipment levels bring a larger touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity and an AI assistant powered by Google Cloud.

The technology is most valuable when it makes itself easy to use. A camera view can take some of the tension out of a tight parking space. A seat that can be ventilated offers a small kindness on a hot afternoon. A rear passenger who can relax for a moment has a better chance of arriving ready to continue the day. These are recognisable needs, translated into a more ambitious equipment list.

Škoda says the Slavia retains its five-star Global NCAP credentials and provides six airbags and more than 25 active and passive safety features as standard. The ownership package includes a four-year or 100,000-kilometre warranty, four years of roadside assistance and four labour-free services. It gives the price announcement an important second half: what the customer receives after the keys have changed hands.

Six trims, with the prices now in view

The range runs from Classic through Classic+, Signature, Sportline and Prestige to Monte Carlo. The Classic starts at ₹9.99 lakh with the 1.0 TSI manual. The Classic+ adds an eight-speed automatic option at ₹12.49 lakh. The Signature manual begins at ₹13.94 lakh, while Sportline starts at ₹14.34 lakh. Prestige opens at ₹15.89 lakh for the manual and includes the 1.5 TSI DSG at ₹18.59 lakh. The Monte Carlo is priced at ₹17.29 lakh with the 1.0 TSI automatic and ₹18.84 lakh with the 1.5 TSI DSG.

The numbers also tell buyers where the choices begin to overlap. Sportline is the value of a more expressive style at the middle of the range, Prestige is where comfort and camera technology gather, Monte Carlo gives the top end a sharper visual identity. For the new 1.0 automatic, Classic+ is the first step, and from there the transmission travels through the more feature-rich grades.

A sedan that wants to be chosen for ordinary reasons

The strongest argument for the new Slavia is not any single screen, lamp or gear ratio. It is the way the updates connect. The car continues to offer a low, well-balanced shape and a range of engines that give customers meaningful choices. It adds an automatic gearbox where the 1.0 TSI needed one, and places comfort features where passengers will notice them. Its safety and service commitments give that promise a longer horizon.

With deliveries due to start next week, the Slavia’s return to the showroom comes at a useful moment for the sedan. Customers can now compare all six grades in concrete terms and decide whether their priorities are the simpler manual, the new torque-converter automatic, a larger engine or the fuller comfort package. The new car asks a clear question of the market: is there still room for a sedan that makes its appeal through thoughtful engineering and the quiet pleasure of a well-shaped journey? Škoda is ready with its answer.
